Testimonials

After losing our wonderful Maine Coon mix, we knew we were interested in having a Maine Coon.  We started searching the internet and found Purrlightly Cattery, and we are so glad we did.  From the very being Wendy was caring and professional.   We were able to visit little Melvin before he was ready to come home, and we were able to see him interact with his litter and mother.  The weekly update pictures of the litter’s progress were also greatly appreciated.

The care and love he received while under Wendy’s care has helped make him a wonderful and lovable addition to our family.  He is now a just over a year old and continues to grow and be a joy to us.  The Maine-coon temperament, lovable nature, gentleness, and loyalty make them the ideal family pet, and a welcome addition to any family.

I would like to take the opportunity to talk about my wonderful experience with Purrlightly and Wendy Little. In December of 2007 my beloved 15 year old Maine Coon passed away. It was devastating. My fiance saw how sad I was and went on line to find me a Maine Coon kitten to help heal my pain. He left messages for dozens of breeders and Wendy Little of Purrlightly responded very quickly to inform us that she had a three week old female Maine Coon that would be ready for a forever home when she was 12 weeks old. Wendy listened to my sad story about my cat and was very kind. She sent me pictures of the most adorable kitten and it was love at first sight. I could hardly wait to pick her up but staying with her family for 12 weeks paid off. My new kitten was handled lovingly and in a beautiful home environment so that when I finally got my new girl she was so sweet and healthy. I have had “Beauty” for 9 months now and her name truly suits her! It was a fabulous experience with wonderful people who really care and take pride in their feline family.

Sincerely,

I contacted Wendy in January 2008 about the possibility of getting a Maine Coon kitten.  My concern, however, was how I would react to Maine Coons, since I have cat allergies.  Wendy offered to let me come by the upcoming weekend and meet her current litter, who were all spoken for, and see what kind of reaction I might have.  She answered all the questions I could think of, not a small number, and graciously let me stay for 2 hours talking with her and interacting with the kittens.

Once Blossom’s litter of kittens were born, Wendy was great about sending out pictures/updates and answering any/all of the questions I had (she still answers all of my emailed questions, and I’ve had my kitten/cat at home for 5 months!).  After going and seeing the kittens when they were a few days old, we decided that the silver patched girl (who had been nicknamed Blossom Jr.) would be mine.

For the next 3 months I visited Wendy and the kittens most weekends.  It was wonderful to be able to see them grow and develop their own distinct personalities, and to be able to bond with my kitten, Aurora, early on.  After my January visit, I had no doubt that this litter of kittens would also turn out to be well socialized, inquisitive, and have absolutely no fear at all of new people.  They were all an absolute job from the very beginning, completely content to use any new person in the room as a kitty junglegym for their games.

After having Aurora (known to me as Rora and Wendy & Alisha as Rory) home with me for almost 5 months now, I can definitely say that I went with the right breeder.  Rora took immediately to her new home and is friendly to any new person that comes into the house, usually going right up to them (each of them) and mewing/meowing a request to be picked up and petted.  The only creature she was hesitant about was my boyfriend’s puppy, but now she seems to enjoy their play fighting/chasing as much as he does (if we take him out of the room, she will go around looking for him).

She dislikes car rides, but is perfectly happy once she is taken inside, even if “inside” is a totally new place that she has never been before – as long as she is with people she is happy.  I don’t know if its normal for a cat to purr almost constantly, but she does.  To a point where I’m almost offended if she isn’t purring, or doesn’t start, when I pick her up – its that uncommon for her.  After I give her a bath, she always comes and curls up in my lap to groom herself.  My lap is also her favorite place to “hide” when she is chasing one of her wand toys.  She seems to have the typical Maine Coon fascination with water and one of her favorite game is pushing her, and the puppy’s, food and water bowls around on the floor.

She is a wonderful cat, and I’m so glad that Wendy entrusted her to me, even when shes jumping on the kitchen counter or the dining room table, like she KNOWS shes not supposed to.
